Short-time work applied for – MAN Steyr lets production stand still for a week


All of a sudden it’s going really fast! At first it looked as if MAN wanted to postpone the registration for short-time work for the plant in Steyr, but now the measure has been taken. From Friday, September 3, production in Upper Austria will be shut down for a week.

5200 Upper Austrians were last on short-time work, now some are joining them. First BMW Steyr had registered short-time work for 800 employees, now MAN has followed suit. Short-time working was requested for the plant in Steyr on Wednesday, September 1st. From Friday, September 2, production at the truck manufacturer in Upper Austria will be shut down for a week.

In the end shifts had already been canceled again and again, but it was still believed that they could still get through without short-time work. In the past few days, however, the situation had changed. At the same time, the takeover process by Sigi Wolf, who bought the location from the German truck group, is still running. The final notification of execution is still a long time coming, the final details have yet to be clarified.
