As the number of Covid-19 cases explodes in China, the French executive wants to address the drug shortage. On Europe 1, the president of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France announced two concrete measures taken in concert with the government to alleviate this scourge.
In view of the disastrous epidemic situation in China marked by an outbreak of Covid-19 cases, the French government wants to take the bull by the horns and anticipate a possible similar scenario in France. President Emmanuel Macron has summoned the executive to imagine measures capable of protecting the French. On the front of the shortage of drugs, observed daily by many pharmacists, a solution has just emerged after consultation between the Ministry of Health and the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France.
Together, the two parties have implemented two concrete measures to better distribute medicines between pharmacies and throughout the territory. “The first consists of supplying pharmaceutical wholesalers and distributors which allows all pharmacies to have a small number of medicines”, develops Philippe Besset, president of the FSPF.
A “weekly” follow-up of the situation with the Ministry of Health
The second measure intends to offer the possibility to specialized pharmacies to make amoxicillin themselves. “We will be able to supply many pharmacies with this drug which is currently missing”. To date, there are a “hundred” of specialized pharmacies “which still make preparations”.
At the microphone of Europe 1, Philippe Besset assures that the government will propose a “weekly” follow-up of the situation. “We will be able to follow with the Ministry of Health the state of stocks and the state of consumption of these drugs, in order to do the best and take the necessary measures as close as possible to the reality on the ground”, concludes- he.
