Losing momentum on the sales side, the Renault ZOE will temporarily cease to be assembled in the Flins plant.

This decision stems directly from the shortage of semiconductors. Yes, her again.

Production of the Renault ZOE temporarily suspended

If it was once one of the best ambassadors of the electric car market in France, the Renault ZOE has lost some of its luster in recent months. The small French city car now has a lot to do with ever fiercer competition. A few days ago, the management of the Flins plant announced to its employees that production will no longer be ensured, temporarily.

This decision does not really stem from the loss of momentum on the sales side of the Renault ZOE, but rather from a lack of supply when it comes to certain materials, in particular the now famous semiconductors.

Better allocation of semiconductors at Renault

According to the CFDT Renault Flins union, the assembly will not be ensured ” week 23 (from June 5 to 9), week 24 (from June 12 to 16)
week 26 (June 26-30)
as well as July 3 and 4, 2023
“.

On the Renault side, if the shortage of semiconductors is very real, it seems that the manufacturer has also decided to prioritize other models, starting with the Megane E-Tech, but also the Renault Austral, whose productions respective are not affected. According to the Force Ouvrière union, the reduction in production of the Renault ZOE has already begun, going from 150 vehicles per day to 90 from this month of June.

Remember that in the near future, the small Renault ZOE will be replaced by another highly anticipated electric car, namely the new Renault 5. This will not be produced in the Flins plant, which will move in 2024 towards circular economy activities, but in that of Douai.
