The rush for testing will begin. On the eve of Christmas Eve, many French people will seek to be tested for Covid-19. But the Minister of Health Olivier Véran has already warned: not everyone will be able to have access to PCR and antigen tests, of which more than 800,000 are carried out daily. Self-tests, sold in pharmacies, remain a fallback solution to testing yourself. But pharmacies are struggling to meet demand.

Guest of LCI this Thursday morning, the deputy (LFI) of Seine-Saint-Denis, Éric Coquerel, regrets this possible shortage and accuses the executive. “The government has been late for two years”, denounces the support of Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the presidential election. “I learn that there is a shortage of self-tests. How is it done? It is a government which lacks anticipation, organization.”
“Make all tests free again”
In addition to the self-tests, Eric Coquerel calls for a return to free screening, which has become payable in recent weeks for unvaccinated adult French people. The deputy pleads for “make all tests free again, vaccinated or not”, he says. “The first way to prevent the virus is to test yourself first.”
