Already customizable at will, Android 13 will soon be wearing new features that some of you have been waiting for.
If Android 13 is still far from having conquered many smartphones, the OS continues to be enriched with improvements over the updates. Including when it comes to customization elements…
Android: personalization above all
Since its launch, Android has continued to push the customization slider ever further. The many users of the mobile operating system have great freedom to customize their smartphone, whether in the choice of colors or the general appearance of their home screen. The deployment of Material You with Android 12 has only reinforced this customizable dimension of the OS.
However, if Android offers many possibilities in terms of customization, it is true that the lock screen is one of the aspects that remains the least customizable. From this point of view, the operating system of Apple, which has meanwhile fallen far behind that of Google, now allows you to modify certain elements of the lock screen, such as widgets or clock typography. But obviously, the Mountain View firm does not intend to stop there…
The finally customizable lock screen with Android 13
As spotted by Mishaal Rahman on Twitter, the Android 13 beta recently leaked new customization items from Settings. These will soon allow you to modify the shortcuts on your lock screen in order to best adapt them to your uses. Owners of smartphones compatible with Android 13 will thus be able, whether on the left or right of the screen, to assign the shortcuts of their choice from a predefined list. They can then choose “Camera”, “Flashlight”, “Device controls”, or even “Do not disturb”. They will also be able to choose not to display anything at all if they wish.
As reported by our colleagues atAndroid Police, triggering shortcuts requires a long press on the desired button, like the iPhone. This will prevent you from accidentally activating them. Additionally, as we can notice from Mishaal Rahman’s post above, the options will also give you the option to customize your phone’s clock.
Choosing among the best Android smartphones is not an easy task. If none is perfect, each model presented here pulls out of the game, by its functionalities, its design, its autonomy or its quality-price ratio. So they are all excellent, in their own way.
