Shot in the hand – Own neighbor injured in New Year’s Eve shooting

In the Mostviertel, a special kind of New Year’s Eve shooting ended at the St. Pölten regional court: The shooter (35) now has to do community service because of bodily harm.

After a “crazy idea” on New Year’s Eve, a 35-year-old was now in court. Because instead of the classic firecrackers, the Mostviertler celebrated the turn of the year with several shots from his air rifle. From the balcony of his house on the first floor, the father of the family, under the influence of plenty of alcohol – the man can still remember at least up to fifteen beers and a number of splashes – shot into the dark night. More specifically, against a billboard. A shot hit his neighbor and injured his hand. “I had a bleeding hole on my finger,” the 45-year-old said in court and thought I had been injured by a firecracker. The bullet was discovered in the hospital and surgically removed. The verdict is final. The 35-year-old has now been sentenced to 180 hours of community service and 1,000 euros in compensation for grossly negligent serious bodily harm – the verdict is final.
