Shot on iPhone: photo competition honors the best macro shots
Do you have an eye for detail? For several years, the manufacturers of most Android smartphones have installed macro cameras in their devices. Apple initially held back – until the iPhone 13 Pro. In the two Pro models – iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the telephoto lens also offers the possibility of capturing macro shots for the first time. The users themselves should show what is possible with it: In a “Shot on iPhone” photo competition, the company asked for the best photos to be submitted. Now the announcement of the best ten pictures is pending.

Shot on iPhone: These are the best pictures
Between January 25 and February 17, 2022, users had the chance to submit their macro shots. The jury chose the best ten pictures from all submissions. The committee included Anand Varma, Apeksha Maker, Peter McKinnon, Paddy Chao, Yik Keat Lee, Arem Duplessis, Billy Sorrentino, Della Huff, Kaiann Drance, Pamela Chen – all experts in the photography industry. All award-winning images can then be viewed on apple.com, billboards in various cities, Apple’s Instagram account and other company social media accounts. The pictures selected by the jury can be found in the photo gallery below this paragraph.
The best pictures from the “Shot on iPhone” challenge
All recordings are without question works of art. It is not known whether and to what extent the photographers made improvements to the images in post-processing. All ten winners have demonstrated photographic talent – not all of them are professionals who take pictures full-time. Striking: all the recordings are in some way related to nature. That’s no wonder, because after all there’s a lot to discover there that usually remains hidden from the human eye. The macro camera makes every little detail visible, drawing the eye to seemingly inconspicuous parts of the world.
