“Should be ashamed”: “Parasite” Bale scolds “disgusting” critics

“Should be ashamed”
“Parasite” Bale berates “disgusting” critics

Gareth Bale takes Wales one step further towards Qatar. The superstar, who has only worked part-time for his club Real Madrid for years, scored two goals. The striker used the moment of triumph for a poisoned salute to his critics in Spain.

After celebrating the double pack, the penultimate step on the way to the long-awaited World Cup participation, Gareth Bale relentlessly settled accounts with his critics. Because he only works part-time for Real Madrid with a handsome salary, the “Marca” had described him as a “Welsh parasite” before the 2-1 win against Austria in the playoff for the World Cup in Qatar.

“It’s disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself,” said the 32-year-old calmly but firmly. “I’m not excited, over.” Bale celebrated his fantastic free-kick goal in the corner (25th minute) for the lead, sliding on his stomach. After the shot to make it 2-0 (51st minute), he demonstratively patted the coat of arms with the red dragon on his chest. Did he want to send a message with the jubilation? “No, I don’t need to send a message,” he replied with a smile.

“Wales. Golf. Madrid.”

Once upon a time, however, the striker had sent a message by cheering. And that was clear. And a mockery of his employer, who once made him the first 100 million euro transfer: In winter 2020, Bale had made it very provocatively clear what he thought of Real Madrid: “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”, it said on a Welsh flag Bale carried across the pitch after a game in the European Championship qualifier against Hungary, for his own amusement and the amusement of his team-mates. Former Real Madrid player and now Cadena Ser radio analyst Pedja Mijatovic previously said: “I think Bale is a very special person. The first thing he thinks about is Wales. Then comes golf, and after that Real Madrid. In in that order.”

In July 2020, he again provoked his employer with pronounced listlessness in front of an audience of millions. Instead of following the 2-0 win against Deportivo Alaves from the bench, the Welshman pulled his protective mask over his mouth and nose for a few minutes and leaned back comfortably in his comfortable reserve chair. After that, there was even speculation that the highly paid striker was taking a nap on the bench.

Bale’s advisor Jonathan Barnett then surprised the BBC with a rather bitter – and expensive – declaration of loyalty for the club: “Gareth is fine, he has two years left on his contract. He likes living in Madrid and will not go anywhere.” According to Barnett, there was “of course interest” in the 31-year-old Bale, who once switched to the Primera División for over 100 million euros. “But there is hardly a club in the world that can afford it,” he said.

The star striker only made five competitive appearances for Real Madrid this season. However, Bale reliably leads his country as captain. In 2016, the biggest success so far was the semi-finals at the European Championship finals premiere, now the second World Cup participation after 1958 is to follow. The opponent in the playoff finals will be determined in June in a duel between Ukraine and Scotland.
