should we fear a shortage of gasoline?
Will the strike against the pension reform impact gasoline stocks? The movement in refineries raises fears of a shortage.
Are we going to relive the strikes of autumn 2022? The French fear a new shortage with the demonstrations which continue against the pension reform. Despite government aid, the purchasing power of households is still at half mast in the country due in particular to inflation, and concerns are being felt. What cause a panic?
This Wednesday, February 8, the TotalEnergies strikers have decided to renew the movement against pensions in most of the group’s refineries, according to AFP, quoted by 20 minutes.
The mobilization is very strong in places, as in the Flanders depot in the North. This last has almost 100% strikers. The question is therefore: will this impact the supply of service stations in France? Will the French run out of gasoline to drive their vehicle, especially for their journeys to work?

For example at the moment, 22 gas stations would be completely out of service and 140 in partial outage. The objective is to avoid the crush at the gas pump and the panic. France 3 also did a similar interactive map for Hauts-de-France. Practical sites to keep up to date, and know where to go in the event of a shortage near your home.
The figures are meant to be reassuring in all cases, being very far from the 40% observed nationally on average during the October strike at TotalEnergies and Esso-ExxonMobil. Some regions were even more affected at that time.
Encouraging elements, although it is difficult to predict what turn will the mobilization take against government reform.
