The shower curtain is very susceptible to soiling and mold, so regular cleaning is important. The best tips for washing shower curtain can be found here.

For every bath cleaning the shower curtain must not be left out. Even if the dirt is not directly visible, dust and bacteria accumulate here as well. But no worry! You do not have to resort to chemical clubs. ?

Shower curtain wash: The best home remedies

  • Soda: Lubricate the shower curtain with a paste of soda and water and let it work for one hour. Then wash in the washing machine.
  • Citric Acid: To avoid lime and bacteria, citric acid helps. Apply citric acid to the shower curtain and rinse off after half an hour.
  • Vinegar: Vinegar replaces the hygiene rinse, because it has an antibacterial effect. Mix vinegar or vinegar essence with water and rub the curtain with it and finally wash it off with clean water.

Wash shower curtain in washing machine

Before we put shower curtains in the washing machine, the label should be viewed. Plastic shower curtains often can only be washed by hand. For fabric we can safely use the washing machine.

The right wash

To wash the shower curtain is recommended a fine wash program with conventional detergent at 30 degrees  – without spin cycle . To prevent mold, 50ml of vinegar can be added to the softener compartment. For heavy soiling, 50g soda is recommended – just put the powder directly into the drum.

Incidentally, only if we regularly clean the washing machine, the laundry can also be hygienically clean. Learn more here: Cleaning the washing machine .

impregnation

So that shower curtains are water repellent, they are impregnated. This impregnation dissolves further after each wash. Therefore, we can work with special impregnating sprays – so we enjoy the shower curtain longer. Alternatively, baby oil can be used for impregnation.

Preventive measures against mold

  • Proper ventilation : In the bathroom, not only is there a high level of humidity, but also a warm climate. In order to avoid the formation of mold, bump ventilation is particularly important after showering.
  • Let the shower curtain dry: After each shower, the curtain should be spread so that it can dry properly. Only in this way can we avoid mold stains and bacteria.
