“Shredded cats, beaten horses…”: veterinarians from Puy du Fou refute accusations of animal abuse: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

This is a controversy that Miss France would have done well. For the election of the next beauty queen, broadcast on Saturday, December 19, 2020 live on TF1, Sylvie Tellier chose to organize the ceremony at the Puy du Fou. But just days before the competition, the theme park is facing serious charges. Wednesday December 16, as part of his show On the front, Hugo Clément has unveiled a new survey on his social networks. The journalist of France Television, through the testimonies of four former employees, denounces facts of "Recurring violence and acts of cruelty" towards animals used for shows.

Shredded cats, drugged camels, live frozen lamb, beaten horses or even wild beasts victims of gunfire… The revelations are more than shocking. Moreover, Geneviève de Fontenay said to herself "revolted ” against the practices observed at Puy du Fou. The former Miss patron has also slammed the beauty pageant, which has yet to react. For his part, the director of the park Nicolas de Villiers says that it is "of ancient history ".

I never noticed the slightest sign "

Faced with these very heavy accusations, the Puy du Fou did not take long to react. The next day, Thursday, December 17, the Instagram account of the amusement park published the testimonies of two veterinarians. Each refutes cases of animal abuse. “The premises are spacious, the bedding is clean, the animals are not at all in a concentrated environment, it is quite extensive. I never noticed the slightest sign that could presage abuse, says Eric Sourdin, who has worked for Puy du Fou since the early 2000s. "In my opinion, I rather deal with passionate people, people who love animals, he finally believes. “At Puy du Fou, there is a follow-up of the horses which is nevertheless very thorough ”, confirms François Auzas, veterinarian in partnership with the park for almost a decade. “It covers a lot of things from the osteopathy aspect, or nutrition, from sports monitoring; follow-ups with blood tests if necessary ”, he assures.

“We are lucky to have a team that is really dedicated to that, that is large enough to do it and above all, they know their animals very well. And that's something quite astonishing, they don't just use the horse. They are really horsemen, as we say in the trade ”, continues the doctor, before concluding: “It's very pleasant and it also allowed us vets to work in safety. I'm pretty surprised if there are attacks on these healers. They are real professionals and for me, it is always impeccable in actions and in intentions. ”

Internet users do not believe the Puy du Fou version

In the comments of the video, on Instagram, Internet users were rather skeptical. Many did not believe these rebuttals: "It does not answer the facts, it is com”,“ Damn, these people work for you! How can they be objective and free in their words? ”,“ At the same time, they are not going to say the other way around. Take animals out of your shows, that's all ”,“ I'm sick of your methods, you make them testify with what as a reward at the end? ”,“ Stop all exploitation of animals, you are not credible for a second to pretend that everything is fine, you are only protecting your interests"," More useless blabla which does not answer in any way to the accusations which have been made, and which is not at all objective ", can we read in particular.
