A specialist in the most compact machines, Shuttle is launching a mini-PC which is no longer limited to processors Intel Core.
For over twenty years, Shuttle has been distributing its barebones, boxes that integrate a motherboard of its own to offer all-in-one PCs of remarkable compactness. The SW580R8 is its youngest.
Intel Core 10e and 11e generation or Xeon W
For this new barebonesShuttle uses the recipe of the previous one, the SH570R8, which it even describes as ” brother model “. We therefore find a case with identical dimensions (332 x 215 x 190 mm) and a very similar motherboard, although organized around the Intel W580 chipset.
From this difference – the SH570R8 is based on the Intel H570 – stems the support for Intel Xeon W-series CPUs in addition to the more classic Intel Core 10e and 11e generation. Logically, ECC RAM is also on the menu of a barebones more versatile.
The four DDR4 DIMM ports still allow a maximum of 128 GB, but the storage benefits from greater potential. We thus benefit from three M.2 slots (2x 2280, 1x 2230) while the four 2.5/3.5-inch SATA slots are still required.
Dual-slot graphics card, four Ethernet ports
Shuttle also doesn’t neglect expansion ports with two PCI Express Gen 4 slots: one 4x and one 16x. The latter is more designed for a graphics card knowing that the barebones accepts a maximum of one dual-slot card.

To avoid spoiling anything, Shuttle has taken care of the connections with four RJ45 Ethernet connectors (2x 2.5 GbE, 2x 1 GbE), four USB-A 3.2 (10 Gbit), one USB-C 3.2 (5 Gbit), three USB- A 3.2 (5 Gbit) and four USB-A 2.0. In addition, you can count on two DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and an HDMI 2.0b.
Finally, the system of heat pipe remains in order to refresh the processor while the whole is based on a 500 Watts 80 Plus Gold power supply. Shuttle points out that the availability of its product is ” immediate and evokes a recommended price of 438 euros, without taxes.
