Siemens: commissioning of a hydrogen power plant

(CercleFinance.com) – Siemens announces that it has inaugurated and commissioned in Wunsiedel, Upper Franconia, one of the largest green hydrogen production plants in Germany, ‘demonstrating the key role that hydrogen can play in the country’s energy future.

This plant, with an electrical capacity of 8.75 megawatts, will generate 1,350 tonnes of hydrogen per year from renewable solar and wind energy in the Wunsiedel energy park, and reduce CO2 emissions from about 13,500 tons.

Siemens Financial Services is supporting the project financially and has a 45% stake in the plant’s operating company, WUN H2. Talks about expanding the plant’s capacity to 17.5 megawatts are already underway.
