Siemens Gamesa: 1st turbine equipped with recyclable blades

(CercleFinance.com) – Siemens Gamesa announces that it has delivered its first wind turbine equipped with recyclable blades, a technology called ‘RecyclableBlade’.

The first commercial installation of this technology was at RWE’s Kaskasi offshore wind project in Germany.

“Between its launch in September 2021 and its installation on RWE’s Kaskasi project in July 2022, we brought Siemens Gamesa RecyclableBlade technology to market in just 10 months,” said Marc Becker, general manager of the offshore business unit of Siemens Gamesa.

According to him, this technology is part of the climate emergency and contributes to the creation of a virtuous circular economy.

The recyclable blades developed by Siemens Gamesa are made of various materials that can subsequently be fully recovered once the blades have reached their life limit.
