Siemens: the Erlangen factory recognized by the WEF

(CercleFinance.com) – The World Economic Forum (WEF) announced that the Siemens factory in Erlangen, Germany, had become a ‘Digital Lighthouse Factory’, thus integrating its global network .

This distinction highlights manufacturing sites that adopt the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution.

Thanks to the Green Lean Digital approach, the factory increased its productivity by 69% and reduced its energy consumption by 42% in four years.

The establishment of on-site semiconductor production for high-performance frequency converters was also successful.

Siemens has invested 500 million euros in Erlangen to make it a global research and development hub. The factory, already recognized for its innovation, is the third in the group to receive this distinction after those in Amberg and Chengdu.
