Siemens: will equip Alexandria in Egypt

(CercleFinance.com) – Siemens has been awarded a contract to upgrade the distribution management system and set up advanced metering infrastructure for Alexandria Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

As a subsidiary of the state-owned Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), AEDC is responsible for the distribution network of the governorate of Alexandria, the second most populous governorate in Egypt.

Over the next 30 months, Siemens will implement a control center for the Alexandria West region and a control center to oversee all distribution control centers in Alexandria.

In addition, 300,000 smart meters will be provided, including the necessary hardware and software to establish advanced metering infrastructure and increase network operational efficiency.

“Through the deployment of hundreds of thousands of smart field devices and advanced software applications, we will help operators effectively manage their networks and proactively guide them before and during critical situations,” says Mostafa El-Bagoury, CEO of Siemens Egypt.
