How the pricing table works
Sigma continues to develop its range of full-frame mirrorless lenses with the E-mount for Sony and the L-mount for Panasonic, Leica or its own bodies. Placed in the Art range, the new 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art and 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is also aimed at an astrophotography-loving audience, according to the brand.
Lenses made for astrophotography
To achieve this, Sigma puts forward several specific arguments. On the one hand, the manufacturer explains that it paid particular attention to certain optical aberrations such as the presence of flare or sagittal coma. This defect leads to a deformation particularly visible on a starry sky, astrophotographers logically seeking to avoid it.
On the other hand, Sigma introduces an MFL switch – for Manual Focus Lock in English – available on the barrel of the lens. Thanks to it, the focus ring is deactivated to avoid unintentionally changing precise and difficult to obtain focus.
Also for both lenses, it is possible to use a front filter thanks to the present thread (72 mm for the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art and 82 mm for the 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art). In addition, a rear filter holder is also present at the level of the frame.
Goals that forget nothing
Notable feature only available on the 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art, a device of “heating system retainer” is present in order to position the heating system without impacting the image quality. As a reminder, this type of tool makes it possible in particular to avoid the formation of condensation when shooting outdoors and at low temperatures.
Among the other characteristics of the lenses, we find a ring dedicated to the adjustment of the diaphragm with rotation with or without a click. An AFL lock button is also present, while the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art and 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art feature a moisture and dust resistant construction. In both cases, Sigma uses a water and oil repellent treatment on the front lens.
What optical construction?
The 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art benefits from an optical construction comprising 17 elements including 2 in FLD glass, 1 in SLD glass and 4 aspherical, all divided into 14 groups. The minimum focusing distance is 25 cm and the weight reaches 520 g. The circular diaphragm is made up of 11 blades.
Furthermore, the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art benefits from an optical construction comprising 17 elements including 2 in SLD glass and 3 aspherical, all divided into 15 groups. The minimum focusing distance is 23 cm and the weight reaches 635 g. The circular diaphragm is also made up of 11 blades.

Both lenses are scheduled to start shipping on August 26, 2022. The 20mm F1.4 DG DN | Art will retail for an RRP of €999 and the 24mm F1.4 DG DN | Art at €899.
