For “Avatar 2” she slips into the role of a teenager

Sigourney Weaver also stars in the second part of “Avatar”. This time, however, the 72-year-old mimics a teenager.
Big surprise for the fans of “Avatar”: Sigourney Weaver (72) will play a teenager in the second part! In the first part, Weaver played Dr. Grace Augustine, however, her character died. In “Avatar 2: The Way of Water” she is now to play the teenage adoptive daughter of Jake (Sam Worthington, 45) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana, 44), who goes by the name Kiri.
Sigourney Weaver was ‘thrilled’ by the ‘challenge’
“I think we all remember how we felt as young adults. I know for a fact. I was about 1.80 meters tall when I was 11. I had a strong feeling that Kiri was herself most of the time would feel very awkward. She’s searching for who she really is. I loved this challenge from Jim [Anm. d. Red.: James Cameron, 67] got,” says Weaver in an interview with “Empire”.
To prepare for her role, the actress took part in workshops with teenage girls. “She looked younger, she had more energy, and she didn’t really slip out of Kiri the entirety of filming. She had a glow on her face and a lightness in her walk and a fun disposition,” Cameron says of working with Weaver.
Avatar 2: The Way of Water is slated to hit theaters in December 2022.
