Silent Hill 2: the development of the remake almost finished, Bloober Team is eyeing VR

After years of waiting, the franchise silent Hill will finally make its return with many games, including a remake of the second opus. Konami placed the development of this survival horror in the hands of Bloober Teamknown for Layers of Fear, Observe, Blair Witch or The Medium.

So far, players have only been treated to one trailer, but internally things are apparently going pretty well. Asked by PAP Businessvia BankerTHE CEO of Bloober Team Piotr Babieno affirms that development is coming to an end soon, but that doesn’t mean the game is ready to go :

Silent Hill 2 is technically ready. That doesn’t mean the game is over, but we’re close.

However, the issue of the release schedule is up to our partners, what the promotion will look like and when the title will debut is not directly in our hands.

Eh yes, Konami remains the editor of this Silent Hill 2, he will have to promote it before the launch and will undoubtedly choose a release date according to the calendar and the competing launches, so we will have to wait before knowing more, but at least the fans have something to be reassured: the remake should not be an Arlesian. Moreover, Piotr Babieno said a few words about virtual reality, a technology that perfectly suits the genre of survival horror. He has already tried it with Blair Witch: VR Edition and wants to continue on this path, but rather with a new title and not another version of Silent Hill 2 :

VR is the long-term future of horror. Horror is a genre that relies on immersion just like virtual reality. Looking at the increasingly available, more powerful and less expensive VR equipment, we can say that we are almost on the eve of a widely understood immersive revolution.

Virtual reality is important to us. Our partners push us to such projects, but we don’t want another port, but an innovative product, aware of its support, speaking the language of virtual reality. I am convinced that before 2027 we will succeed in this area.

With an already well-filled CV, Bloober Team has a bright future ahead of himespecially since the Polish studio is also developing Layers of Fear, revisits its two horror games with new content. But again, we will have to wait before discovering all this. The fans of Silent Hill 2 can find the soundtrack of the game from 2001 to €26.44 on Amazon.
