Finally, there it is. After years of waiting, constant rumors, and almost monthly teasing, Konami has confirmed the return of Silent Hill. The Silent Hill Transmission event is announced for this week with “the latest updates to the Silent Hill series”.

Konami yesterday tweeted a teaser for an event called Silent Hill Transmissionin which we will learn more about the next installment of the Silent Hill franchise.

In your wildest dreams, do you see this city?

This sentence refers to a letter that James Sunderland, the hero of Silent Hill 2, receives at the start of the game.

“In your restless dreams, do you see this city? The latest updates of the SILENT HILL series will be unveiled during the #SILENTHILL transmission Wednesday, October 19 at 11:00 p.m. CEST”.

Konami has also launched a website for the occasionon which a countdown is displayed, and where we can certainly view the announcement trailer, if there is a trailer.

Warning retweets?

Many people retweeted the news. Among them, the original Silent Hill artist, Masahiro Itosuggesting that he is involved.

Ito served as Konami’s horror series art director for its first three episodes, and also designed many of the creatures that featured in the game. He had confirmed in 2020 to be on a new project.

Elijah Wood also retweeted Konami’s teaser, but it’s quite possible that it’s just the fan in him celebrating the long-awaited announcement.

A game called “Silent Hill: The Short Message” was rated by South Korea’s game classification committee less than a month ago. More recently, Christophe Gans, director and screenwriter of the first film Silent Hill, and still in close collaboration with Konami, confirmed that several teams at Konami are working on several games in the franchise.

We give you an appointment Wednesday, October 19 at 11 p.m. for the big reveal.

If there is one license that players around the world dream of seeing reborn, it is indeed that of Silent Hill, and it seems that it is off to a good start if we are to believe all the latest rumors that leave hear the return of the horror franchise.

Whether you like horror games or not, you’ve probably heard of PT, a playable trailer developed by Kojima Productions 8 years ago to showcase the newest game in the Silent Hill franchise — and which ultimately never released due to disagreements between Kojima and Konami.
