Simone Alexandra Johnson
strong like dad
Now Simone, the daughter of Dwayne Johnson, is starting out as a wrestler. He thinks that’s great.
Other fathers would be terrified just to think about it: their own daughter, muscular and in costume, wrestles her opponents spectacularly to the ground on a stage? It’s not possible! However, when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s daughter Simone announced that she would rather enroll in a wrestling school than college, dad Dwayne, 50, performed a joy dance. The 20-year-old is thus continuing a great family tradition that he has already seen disappearing.
Simone Johnson carries on the family tradition
She will compete in the fourth generation, her great-grandfather was a wrestler. This sport, in which a show fight is contested according to a choreography – comparable to a script – is extremely popular in the USA. Many wrestling stars later make a career in film, including Dwayne Johnson (“Fast & Furious”, “Baywatch”). He is now considered one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood.
In love with wrestling
Simone’s love for wrestling was – of course – awakened by him. As a child, she watched him train and was sometimes even allowed to watch competitions. That’s when she fell in love with wrestling, she says. Simone, who calls herself “Ava Raine” as a professional, is very happy with her decision to do family sport. “I am humbled, grateful and ready to work,” she writes on Instagram. After a knee operation, the first fight should follow soon.
A real father-daughter team
Daddy will of course watch. He was always there for his little princess, despite his (extraordinarily peaceful for Hollywood) divorce from her mother, film producer Dany Garcia, 53. “There’s nothing like the relationship between a father and his daughter,” he once said. And further: “Simone keeps teaching me new things.” His daughter, in turn, praises him as the one person she trusts implicitly and with whom she can discuss anything. Which makes Dwayne, who now has three girls dad, very happy. He thinks: “Daughters are a wonderful thing.” And they are strong.
