For Simone Ballack’s late son Emilio, her Christmas party was always a highlight. That’s why she dedicates the party to him every year.

Simone Ballack (47) admits that Christmas has been difficult for her since the death of her son Emilio (2002-2021). In an interview with RTL, Michael Ballack’s ex-wife (47) said: “Every day is difficult. Christmas is particularly difficult.” She tries to make it so good for herself and her other two sons, Jordi (18) and Louis (22). [zu] “Do as best you can.”

It is the third Christmas for Simone and Michael Ballack without Emilio, who died in a quad bike accident in Portugal two years ago. The 47-year-old also feels a little different every year in terms of loss. “You just have to decide for yourself: What will help me? Do I want to be alone? Do I want to be with friends?” says Ballack.

However, it is worse to “keep everything quiet.” That’s why she organizes the “Emilio’s Ugly Christmas Party” for her son every year before Christmas Eve, to which those present can come dressed – based on the “Ugly Christmas Sweater” trend, in which funny but generally rather tasteless sweaters are worn. This year Simone Ballack appeared as an elf in a green outfit, as green was Emilio’s favorite color. She showed impressions of the event in various Instagram stories.

The Christmas parties organized by Ballack for her family and closest friends have a long tradition. The party was always a highlight for Emilio. It is now specifically dedicated to her late son. “We talk about Emilio often and a lot – that’s how it should be,” she explains to RTL. “I put up special pictures from the last party where he was there. That was our family tradition. It still is – just now without him. But he’s always there somehow.” She then donates the proceeds from “Emilio’s Ugly Christmas Party” to a good cause.
