Ten months after the fatal accident of her 18-year-old son, Simone Ballack, 46, has now given the first television interview. In an interview with “RTL Exklusiv”, Michael Ballack’s ex-wife, 45, describes how she deals with her grief and reveals how she is doing today.

Simone Ballack: Her reaction when she found out about her son’s death

In August 2021, the unbelievable happened: Emilio Ballack died in a quad accident in Portugal on the family property. He was only 18 years old. To this day, Simone Ballack remembers this moment “every day”. “You don’t think about that day in particular. You remember that shock a bit,” the 46-year-old said.

When she received the news, Simone would have worked “like a machine”. “You know you have to function now. You fly there now and […] go see him again. […] You would probably swim over there if you had to.”

“I won’t let it”

Since then, Simone Ballack would have had a number of messages from people asking how to move on as a mother after such an unspeakable loss. She admits openly and honestly to “RTL Exklusiv”: “Of course there are days when I don’t want to get up. I want to lie in bed and cry. But I won’t let it.” She mourns, but now feels “relatively strong”.
