Geneva (awp / ats) – Simple Pay will proceed with the collective dismissal of its employees active in the delivery of meals on behalf of the company Smood. This decision is the consequence of the upcoming withdrawal, by the Cantonal Employment Office of the Canton of Geneva, of the authorization granted to Simple Pay to practice the rental of services, Smood said in a press release on Saturday.
Smood is ready to discuss with the Simple Pay deliverers whose services it rented and to offer them a new employment contract, “according to the conditions of the Collective Labor Agreement (CCT) implemented in May 2022 and offering at least conditions equivalent to those offered so far by Simple Pay”.
Smood specifies that it intends to offer in the delivery sector “salaried jobs, with supervised employment contracts, benefiting from full social security coverage and working within a legal framework”. The company specifies that it wanted to meet its partner Simple Pay to find a solution, but without success.
More than 200 employees
The syndicom union, which represents part of the deliverers, notes, for its part, that Simple Pay has announced to its employees its dissolution for the end of September. The company that “rents” delivery people from Smood employs 218 people. The union demands that both companies “assume their social responsibility”.
Syndicom recalls that Simple Pay employed people by the minute, in violation of the CCT rental of services. The union also indicates that employees of the company “have regularly denounced erroneous counts of working hours and chaotic planning of staff assignments”.
Syndicom specifies that the CCT Smood offers a more advantageous framework for delivery people. This agreement includes, for example, a minimum commitment period of 2 hours, instead of commitments by the minute at Simple Pay. It also contains a guarantee of 4 hours of commitment per week and “clear regulations for the reimbursement of expenses”.
