Since the broadcast of her sextape, Paris Hilton suffers from post-traumatic stress

It was in 2004. Paris Hilton was the victim of revenge porn: without her consent, a sex tape of her and her ex was broadcast online. 17 years later, she talks about the consequences.

In an interview with Vanity Fair and published on April 16, 2021, Paris Hilton returned to a scandal that changed her life 17 years earlier. Remember: in 2004, the reality TV star hit the front pages of celebrity magazines when a sextape video, shot with ex-partner Rick Salomon two years earlier, aired without her consent.

A victim of revenge porn at the time, today 40-year-old Paris Hilton still sees the case as “a humiliation.” She tells Vanity Fair : “It was a private experience between two people. When your trust is betrayed like that and the whole world is looking at you and laughing, the way they talked about me in the media, seeing these things with my family… It was just right. heartbreaking”, she explains. Moreover, the consequences are serious, because thinking about it now remains very painful for Paris Hilton: “It’s still there, in the back of my mind”, she explains before confiding that she suffers from post-traumatic syndrome.

In his documentary This is Paris, released in 2020, the businesswoman already evoked this story: “I just remember he pulled the camera out, and kind of pushed me to do it. If that happened today, it wouldn’t be the same story at all.”, she said.

At the time, Paris Hilton filed a lawsuit against an online company she suspected had released the video. She had also sued her ex, Rick Salomon, for having broadcast this sextape without his consent. If the latter had subsequently lodged a complaint against her for defamation, the lawsuit had finally been settled out of court.
