“She’s scary.” This is how Fabien Leceuvre described the singer Hoshi at the microphone of Arts-Mada radio this Wednesday, April 7, 2021. If he did not deny the talent of the interpreter of “Your Sailor”, his remarks are sexist and lesbophobic. “When are we going to release sublime girls ?, he wonders on the air. When you look at Hoshi, for example, who has an incredible, unmistakable talent, do you put a poster of Hoshi in your room do you? I have nothing against this girl who is brilliant (…) but who gives her songs to sublime girls. “

Hoshi did not fail to challenge the columnist on social networks by broadcasting the excerpt from the radio show and protesting: “So serious to make this kind of remark Fabien Leceuvre. We offer him a poster or a mirror?” Her tweet has been relayed more than 6,000 times and many are those who have supported the singer, in particular, the singer Coeur de Pirate and the elected and lesbian feminist Alice Coffin.

“It kills me that nobody reacted on the air”

As for Fabien Leceuvre, he reacted by responding to Hoshi on Twitter, using words taken out of context: “Good evening Hoshi, a thousand apologies for these awkward words taken out of context and which may have hurt you. I was simply relating a difference from the time when record companies and audiences paid much more attention to the physique of the artists than today. . ” Moreover, Hoshi did not hesitate to answer him: “But is it actually a joke? You’re still talking about my looks. Mind-blowing. It’s because of people like you that young people give up their dreams, not because of the record companies.”

This is not the first time that Hoshi has fallen victim to misogyny and homophobia. Committed to the rights of LGBTQI + people and openly lesbian, she has already testified to the harassment and hate speech of which she is the target. It is clear that in 2021, as a woman and a lesbian, it remains difficult to exercise your profession without facing attacks that are simply unacceptable.
