Available on Disney+ Since April 6, Single Drunk Female has tackled one of the most important themes: alcoholism and, moreover, sobriety among young adults in their twenties. A subject that is still too rare on television. Where the series have long depicted groups of friends meeting regularly, even daily, around a “simple” drink, this one reveals the other side of the decor: addiction.

If this original series seems so honest and sincere, it is simply because its creator, screenwriter Simone Finch (Madam Secretary, Roseanne), was inspired by her own experience. When she begins working on the script for Single Drunk Female, she is not yet sober. Her heroine Sam and her story take shape and gain depth along with her personal experience with alcoholism.
