The last flap for the TVNow series “Sisi” has fallen. The six episodes were shot over four months.

Shooting deadline for the TVNow series “Sisi”: This week the last flap fell for the six-part series. Over four months the film was shot in Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Hungary and finally in Germany. The broadcast is planned for the end of 2021 on TVNow and later on RTL.

The legendary imperial couple Elisabeth, called Sisi, and Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary play the newcomer Dominique Devenport (born 1996) and star actor Jannik Schümann (29, “9 days awake”). Désirée Nosbusch (56, “Bad Banks”) becomes Sisi’s feared mother-in-law.

However, “Sisi” is not the only project that is currently being worked on about the Empress. Netflix also takes on the love story of Sisi and Emperor Franz Joseph with the series “The Empress”. Here Devrim Lingnau (born 1998) and Philip Froissant (born 1994) take on the leading roles. Shooting is scheduled for August to November 2021 in Bayreuth, Bamberg and Ansbach. The six episodes will revolve around Sisi’s first months at the Viennese court and her love story with Emperor Franz Joseph. The broadcast via the streaming service is planned for spring 2022.

The popular “Sissi” film trilogy from the 1950s has not been forgotten to this day. The 17-year-old Romy Schneider (1938-1982) embodied the Empress and became a star alongside Karlheinz Böhm (1928-2014).
