The next Grand Theft Auto is probably one of the most anticipated games of the decade. Enough to whet the appetite of certain sites which offer dubious pre-order offers.

GTA 6 is already the game of all records. Its trailer continues to climb the rankings of the most viewed YouTube videos of all time, the same goes for the soundtrack that accompanies the video and its release is awaited by millions of gamers around the world. So much so that some malicious hackers even try to scam honest Internet users with corrupted PC executables. It was therefore only a matter of time before e-commerce sites joined the dance.

GTA 6 on pre-order for €120

Some online sales platforms already offer to pre-order the game at unbeatable prices… in the bad sense of the word. For example, we can find the Xbox version of the game on pre-sale for €123.82 on certain corners of the web, with the promise that the download key “will be communicated at the time of the game’s release, which has not yet been announced“.

Let us remember, however, that GTA 6 is not supposed to be released before 2025, that no specific date has been announced by Rockstar and that official pre-orders have therefore absolutely not started. It therefore takes a good dose of confidence to warm up your credit card to this point despite the long wait that still remains before the game is made official.

The price displayed by certain web merchants is also well beyond those displayed by “classic” next-gen games. On PS5 as on Xbox, AAA titles are more likely to sell for around €70 or €80 than around €120. However, this price does not come completely out of nowhere.

Towards a GTA 6 more expensive than normal?

Since the release of its trailer, GTA 6 has given rise to numerous rumors about its price. With around ten years of waiting, promises of gameplay, graphics and extraordinary realism and a development cost which, according to some rumors, could reach 2 billion dollars, Rockstar’s next game could well to be one of the most ambitious and expensive video game products ever seen.

This led some Internet users to speculate that the game could therefore sell for more than €100 when it was released, in order to make the costs incurred by the studio profitable. This rumor should still be taken with a grain of salt since Rockstar has never had trouble making GTAs hyper-profitable products despite prices completely in line with the competition.

As a reminder, GTA V has sold more than 90 million copies and generated more than $6 billion in revenue without needing to break every fan’s wallet. Given the legions of fans awaiting GTA 6, it’s a safe bet that Rockstar will easily succeed in repeating the feat.
