The attack happened on August 20, 2022. After the football cup game between the Grasshoppers and FC Wettswil, ultras from FC Zurich boarded the train at Weihermatt station, pulled the emergency brake and attacked supporters of the city rivals. According to an eyewitness report in an online forum of GC fans, the attackers used “pepper spray, metal bars and batons”. Five people were slightly injured in the attack, and property damage amounted to tens of thousands of francs.

The Zurich public prosecutor’s office and the Zurich cantonal police have now announced in a joint statement that six FCZ Ultras were involved in the attack. The six Swiss between the ages of 18 and 26 were arrested last week.
