Six McDonald’s on strike in Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-d’Oise

Employees of six McDonald’s restaurants in Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-d’Oise went on strike to denounce “Intimidation” of their management and provide support to two employees placed in police custody after having denounced “Acts of harassment”, explained, Friday, April 30, the General Confederation of Labor (CGT). “The employees of McDonald’s in Aulnay-sous-Bois, Bondy, Parinor (Gonesse), Rosny, Villemomble and Bobigny have stopped working”, said Lynda Zarif, fast food referent for the CGT Federation of Commerce and Services.

The six fast-food restaurants are franchises that belong to the same manager, who owns 19 restaurants in Ile-de-France. The latter filed a complaint against X for “Attempt to destabilize the company” after the disclosure of CCTV footage showing his director of operations and a supervisor at their workplace. The latter also lodged a complaint.

Two McDonald’s employees were taken into custody and will be summoned to appear before the Bobigny court on December 10. “They are not criminals but whistleblowers, they denounced acts of harassment and found themselves in police custody”, protests Mme Zarif.

Internal investigation

An anonymous letter was sent to management in February to denounce facts of harassment from the director of operations and the supervisor. “The authors described their suffering at work”, explains the CGT. After this report, management launched an internal investigation with the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) and the supervisor had been dismissed, confirmed McDonald’s France.
