France won their second match of the Six Nations Tournament on Saturday after defeating Ireland, one of the big favorite nations of the competition, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis (30-24). The Blues take an option on the final victory.
The XV of France won its second match by dominating Ireland (30-24), Saturday, during the 2nd day of the 2022 Six Nations Tournament. The Blues, who had beaten Italy (37-10) the week last , are the last undefeated team in the competition. The Blues (9 points) therefore take the lead in the standings alone ahead of their opponents of the day (6 pts) and Scotland, surprise in Wales (20-17), and while waiting for the match between Italy (0 pt ) and England (1 pt) on Sunday.
A third consecutive success against Ireland
In a high intensity match, Fabien Galthié’s men scored two tries by scrum half and captain Antoine Dupont (2nd) and prop Cyril Baille (54th). Enough to dominate the XV of Clover for the third consecutive time, after the victories of 2020 (35-27) and 2021 (15-13). Back Melvyn Jaminet scored twenty points, all on foot.
The Six Nations Tournament marks a one-week break, which will allow the Blues to breathe a little before resuming their march forward, with the trip to Scotland on February 26, on the road to a first coronation since 2010 .

French winger Damian Penaud reacted to the microphone of France 2 after the victory of the Blues: “We expected a real fight. It was a standoff for 80 minutes but we remained united. There was a huge state of mind and we are very happy. We had a bad start to the second half, but the key word was solidarity. We never doubted, not for a single moment. We recovered our heads right side up and that’s what makes us strong.”
