skateboarding. confirms the absence of loot boxes and the pay-to-win – skate aspect.

Developed by Full Circle and published by Electronic Arts, skate. is the next installment of the license and will arrive in free-to-play, later in the year hopefully. But part of the community was worried, at the end of January, because of a rumor emanating from Tom Henderson, reputed to be reliable. According to him, in recent alpha testing, loot boxes were available in game, allowing you to recover various elements.

To reassure everyone, and because the studio had already indicated that the loot boxes could not be purchased with real money, the game’s Twitter account published a tweet in which we can read that the game will not contain any paid boxing loot, and that no gameplay advantages can be purchased with moneyremoving the pay-to-win aspect that some may have feared.

According to the feedback, it seems that two currencies will be present in skate., but these are obtained, for the moment, by playing, in order to unlock cosmetics. A very recurring precedent in free-to-play video games in recent years, with the aim of monetizing the title without spoiling the gameplay. We’ll see how it evolves over time, but EA shouldn’t give us a Star Wars: Battlefront II bis, much to our delight.

In addition to this reminder, referring to a more explanatory video, the studio specifies that it is always possible to register for the playtests, to obtain feedback before the final release, which is very likely to take place in 2023.
