Ski Championship – “Brandy” is chasing its premiere title

The National Ski Championships in the Montafon began on Tuesday with the men’s slalom and a Salzburg bronze medal for Christoph Meissl. Austria’s currently fastest giant slalom player, Stefan Brennsteiner, wants to add gold on Wednesday – the 30-year-old from Pinzgau is still missing that. Last year, “Brandy” missed out on the title by a hair’s breadth at the Glungezer.

In the last World Cup races, Stefan Brennsteiner was the fastest domestic giant slalom, finishing fifth, second (in Kranjska Gora) and fourth (at the final in Meribel). The team gold medalist from Beijing wants to prove that in his special discipline at the state championships in Montafon on Wednesday. The 30-year-old from USK Niedernsill is chasing his first title after it was snatched from him by Magnus Walch by two hundredths in 2021 on the Glungezer in Tyrol Medal: The squadless Christoph Meissl (22/SRG Gainfeld Bischofshofen) won slalom bronze, 0.50 seconds behind the surprise winner Simon Rueland (Tyrol) and just behind the Olympic hero Johannes Strolz. Fourth: Simon Oberhamberger (SC Saalbach / + 0.62). With the exception of Manuel Feller, all ÖSV stars were at the start.
