Ski jumping in Engelberg – Deschwanden in 8th place – Arnet misses the 2nd round – Sport

After his podium debut last Sunday in Klingenthal (2nd), Gregor Deschwanden had to bake a little smaller bread again in Engelberg. In the jumping on the large hill, the Lucerne native was able to convince again in 8th place.

In the final round, Deschwanden had to wait a long time to appear because of the stronger wind, but then took the lead with a leap over 140 meters. Thanks to the second longest jump of the day (1st round: 129.5 meters), he moved up 3 places and achieved his 3rd top 10 result in a row.

Killian Peier took 18th place, which he had already held after the first part. Simon Ammann (32nd) and Remo Imhof (45th) were not represented in the final round.

Victory premiere for Paschke

Pius Paschke was surprisingly able to be celebrated as the winner. The German came from behind the field from position 6 and surpassed Marius Lindvik (NOR) and Stefan Kraft (AUT) by 1.7 and 3.5 points respectively. Paschke had never won in the World Cup before.

Arnet not in the final

The women have already completed their second competition in Engelberg. After the premiere on Friday, the fans couldn’t be happy about Swiss participation in the final on Saturday. Sina Arnet jumped to 107 meters in the first round and was only 33rd.

The victory went to the Slovenian Nika Prevc, who won just ahead of her Slovenian compatriot Ema Klinec. 129.5 meters in the final round was enough for the 18-year-old to win. In third place was the Norwegian Eirin Maria Kvandal, who had a shortened start due to health problems, but was still able to impress. The winner from the previous day, Josephine Pagnier (FRA), had to settle for fourth place.
