Ski jumping on the large hill – Loutitt amazes with the world title – Swiss duo defeated – Sport

Alexandria Loutitt is riding a wave of success: about a month after winning the World Junior Championships in Whistler, the talent from Calgary landed the next gold coup one step up. The only 19-year-old duped everyone in the global elite title fights.

The Canadian recently brought her association the first World Cup victory in Zao, Japan. And now the “maple leaf” nation is celebrating the first World Cup gold on a ski jump.

Loutitt stands up to the pressure

Halfway through the workload on the large hill, Loutitt was aequo with Maren Lundby after a jump on 134.5 meters, but thanks to significantly better grades for posture. The Norwegian title holder, who has finally regained her strength, only landed at 139.5 meters on her first attempt and thus surpassed the hill record that has existed since 2014 by a whopping 4.5 meters.

In long, difficult and changeable wind conditions, the intrepid Loutitt also delivered in the final and was the last athlete to reach 136.5 meters. Behind the dethroned defending champion Lundby, Katharina Althaus (120.5 / 128.0 m) took the bronze medal. The German does not round off the World Championships in the Slovenian ski resort with the perfect record, but after 3 gold wins from 4 starts she is back on the podium.

Swiss duo has to pack up after the first jump

The two young Swiss Sina Arnet (17 years old) and Emely Torazza (18) were no longer there in the final round, which was only missed by the top 30 of the 40 starters. After Having mastered the qualification the day before, both must hold on to the fact that they have gained valuable experience for their further development.

Torazza didn’t get a perfect jump and never managed to fly at all – instead, the Glarus native touched down again at 98 meters and was only able to outperform 3 competitors.

With a mark of 101.5, Arnet gained 3.5 meters more than her teammate. However, as 33rd she also missed the cut for the decision by 5.7 points. The next stage after the World Cup, Station 1 on the Raw Air Tour on March 11th in Oslo, will be a much smaller one.
