Skin care innovations in the test: Which ones convince us?

Skin care is currently more important than ever. That is why we have put five new skincare products to the test. Also included: a luxury moisture booster from Dr. Barbara Sturm and the ultimate peeling for baby-soft skin from Drunk Elephant.

Nice to have

Product: Sprekenhus Midnight Serum

Price: about 83 euros

Use: Anti-aging night serum, which is supposed to regenerate dry skin with plant extracts and vitamins.

Optics: Minimalistic, brown glass bottle with pipette.

Effect: This serum consists of a mixture of different oils. It provides enough moisture and is absorbed relatively quickly, so that I could also use it in the morning. Unfortunately, I could not see an anti-aging active ingredient in the ingredients. The product is perfumed and has a gentle smell of roses. I will continue to use the serum because the formulation is really very comfortable on the skin. However, there are certainly many comparable products for less money that donate even more moisture.

Product: Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Baby Facial

Price: around 76 euros, exclusively from Douglas

Use: The Babyfacial is an AHA / BHA face mask that is supposed to provide a refined and improved skin structure. It is said to support natural skin renewal and to exfoliate clogged pores and the surface of the skin effectively, yet gently.

Optics: The product comes in a practical pump dispenser that makes it super easy to dose. Also included: The Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil in miniature size. This should be applied afterwards for optimal effectiveness.

Effect: Immediately after application, the product burns a little on the skin, but that disappears after a few minutes. The reason for this are the acids it contains. Therefore, it has to be washed off again after 20 minutes. At the same time I notice that my skin feels much softer. Then I put a few drops of oil on the skin and the next day it is really soft and radiant. I still spotted impurities, but I didn't expect them to go away forever.

Product: ACO Perfecting Serum

Price: Around 30 euros

Use: The Perfecting Serum has been specially developed for combination skin in adulthood and contains niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. It is supposed to improve the skin structure, provide the skin with intensive moisture and ensure a more even skin tone and a natural glow.

Optics: The product comes in a clean, bluish tube with a pump cap, which makes it easy to dose the serum.

Effect: The product has a gel-like texture that combines with the skin as if by itself and is already absorbed at the same time, so that you can continue with the subsequent care – I love that! The serum covers the skin like a filter and softens enlarged pores and makes the skin super supple. I miss the promised glow a bit, but since I'm a big fan of hyaluronic acid and niacinamides, I will definitely continue to use the serum.

Product: Skin Booster Kit from Team Dr Joseph

Price: 89 euros

Use: The set, consisting of serum and eye cream, promises smooth, plump and fresh skin with the help of botanical hyaluronic acid, hibiscus extracts and other selective plant ingredients. The active ingredients are designed to reduce muscle contraction and bind free radicals.

Optics: High-quality jars made of glass and wooden closures make the duo a pretty guest in every bathroom.

Effect: Serum and eye cream convince me above all because of their great skin tolerance. They leave a pleasant feeling on my skin and plump it up from the inside out. No red spots, no dryness – instead, a plump glow skin.

Product: Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum

Price: 260 euros

Use: As the name suggests, it is a highly concentrated huyaluron serum that declares war on dry skin. It is supposed to plump up small wrinkles and bumps in the skin, supply the skin with moisture and make it glow.

Optics: The product comes in a high quality pipette bottle. The semi-transparent glass bottle makes it easy to see how much of the product is left. Dosing and application are also child's play thanks to the pipette.

Effect: I had high expectations of the hyped product and I have to admit that I can understand the hype 100%. I can literally notice how my skin, which is already a bit stressed and dry thanks to the cold air and face mask, literally soaks up the serum. The longer I use the product, the more my skin glows and the concealer and make-up are much easier to apply because the skin is sufficiently moisturized.
