Skoda improves Enyaq iV range and charging with a simple update

The Skoda Enyaq iV benefits from a new update improving its autonomy and reducing the charging time. But not only.

Like the models in the ID electric range at Volkswagen, the Skoda Enyaq iV, which shares its MEB platform with them, benefits from similar updates. And the latest, an exact copy of that intended for the models of the Wolfsburg brand, allows it to benefit from new functionalities but also has a direct impact on autonomy and recharging.

Optimized charging

This new update, known as ME3.0 and detailed by Skoda in a press release, therefore brings its share of improvements to all copies of the electric SUV already in circulation. And not the least, since it allows in particular toincrease the maximum charging power to 120 kW for the 58 kWh version and 135 kW for the 77 kWh version against 100 and 125 kW previously. Concretely, this translates into a drop in charging time, which only requires 35 minutes to go from 10 to 80%, five less than before.

But that’s not all, since as with the models in the ID range, the Skoda Enyaq now benefits from a brand new mode to preserve the battery and extend its life. It is then enough to go to the touch screen to activate the limitation of the load to 80%. This system prevents premature damage to the battery cells. Finally, the battery preheating system has been reworked, thus improving the SUV’s autonomy, even if Skoda does not give figures on this subject. As a reminder, the Enyaq iV can travel between 340 and 500 kilometers on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle.and this update could allow it to improve its total autonomy by about fifty kilometers, as is the case with Volkswagen.

A real route planner

Some improvements have also been made to the infotainment system. The electric SUV, cousin of the Volkswagen ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron benefits in particular from a new route planner, displaying the final destination as well as the stops necessary for recharging. The digital handset now displays the charge level as a percentage, which was not the case until now. Finally, the reversing camera has been improved to provide more contrast, while the driver can now more easily switch from adaptive cruise control to the Travel Assist semi-autonomous driving system with the press of one of the buttons on the steering wheel. . Several features of the ŠKODA Connect system have been improvedbut the brand does not give more details.

An almost OTA update

This update must be carried out free of charge at the dealership and takes approximately five hours. Subsequently, all of the units equipped with it will be able to take advantage of OTA (Over-The-Air) updates, that is to say remotely, without having to move. Note that all models produced from now on are already delivered with this new version of the software and that customers will therefore have nothing to do.
