After the Enyaq, Skoda is presenting its second 100% electric car with the Elroq, a compact SUV which will arrive in France with great prices: from 33,300 euros, excluding government aid. Or less than 30,000 euros with the bonus.
Within the Volkswagen group, Audi, Cupra and even the parent company have at least two 100% electric cars.
This was not the case for Skoda, at least until now, which had to deal with a single electric model for a little over three years, namely the Enyaq.
A new format within the Volkswagen group
But today, Skoda presents a newcomer to us with the Elroqa “small” SUV that is positioned below the Enyaq, Volkswagen ID.4 and other Audi Q4 e-tron. With 4.48 meters longat 1.88 meters wide and 1.65 meters high, the Elroq is a large C-segment SUV. It is 1 cm longer than a Renault Scénic E-Tech for example, and 6 cm shorter than a Peugeot e-3008. It also loses 16 cm compared to its big brother flanked by the same coat of arms.
Aesthetically, there is no denying it, it is an Enyaq in miniature format, especially when viewed from the rear. The front is a little more unique with fine optics on each level on two floors. Skoda announces a rather interesting Cd for the category, with 0.26.

Recycled plastic and lots of technology on the program
Inside, it’s a classic for Volkswagen group cars. We find a large central 13-inch touch screen for infotainment, obviously compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is supplemented by a smaller screen under the driver’s eyes, which brings together most of the information related to driving. The car also has a head-up display system with augmented reality, like Mercedes for example, to streamline the navigation experience with GPS.
The interior is made from recycled materials, like the Volvo EX30. We will check in a future more complete test after the one we did in Amsterdam of the prototype, if these materials are of quality, which is not necessarily the case on the Scandinavian SUV. Considering the price of this Skoda Elroq, you should not expect anything extraordinary, but the whole thing should nevertheless be within the standards of the Volkswagen group (even if they have tended to fall in recent years) .
Regarding habitability, Skoda announces 470 liters of trunkand up to 1,580 liters with the bench seat folded. It’s around 110 liters less than an Enyaq, and this is justified by its compactness, but it’s much less than a Renault Scénic E-Tech, slightly shorter, and whose trunk increases to 545 liters.
The Elroq is also full of driving aids, including level 2 semi-autonomous driving. The car is also equipped with Remote Park Assist allowing you to control your car using your smartphone, while outside. of it.
Engines: the king’s choice
The Skoda Elroq is based on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen group and arrives in France with versions 50, 60, 85 and 85X. Their lithium-ion batteries come in three sizes. The Elroq 50 has an electric motor and a battery with a gross capacity of 55 kWh (52 kWh net).
It is the entry level and it offers a range of more than 370 km according to the WLTP cycle. Its electric motor develops a maximum power of 170 hp and a torque of 310 Nm. The Elroq 60 has a 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net) and a range of more than 400 km. Its engine develops 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque. Both variants reach a top speed of 160 km/h.
The Skoda Elroq 85 is available with one or two electric motors, which makes it a four-wheel drive. The two most powerful variants of the Elroq feature the largest battery, with a capacity of 82 kWh (77 kWh net). In the Elroq 85, it is associated with a rear motor with 285 hp peak power which delivers a maximum torque of 545 Nm.
The Elroq 85X is equipped with an additional electric motor on the front axle. Both versions reach a maximum speed of 180 km/h. The Elroq 85 has one of the longest maximum autonomy in its category, with more than 560 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
With charging speeds of up to 175kWthe 82 kWh battery in both 85 variants can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes at DC fast charging stations. For Elroq 50 and Elroq 60 models, which support charging speeds up to up to 145 kW and 165 kW respectivelythe same process takes 25 minutes.
All models are compatible with 11 kW alternating current. A pre-conditioning system is also included to prepare the battery for recharging and save time.
Less than 30,000 euros with the bonus
In France, the Skoda Elroq range will be divided into four levels, namely “City”, “Element”, “Clever” and “Plus”. Prices start at 33,300 eurosexcluding bonus, for the basic model with the small battery, which brings the price down to 29,300 euros in 2024 (and undoubtedly 30,300 euros in 2025, when the bonus will have been reduced by 1,000 euros).
It will be necessary to count 36,620 euros for version 60, and from 42,270 euros for the 85 model. All Skoda Elroqs are eligible for the ecological bonus, because they will be manufactured in Europe, and no version exceeds 47,000 euros. Orders will open from October 2, 2024.
