If you want to log in to Sky in the future, you will have to set a new password, as the four-digit PIN code for registration will be abolished. This is the reason for the change.
- You will need a new password to log into the Sky customer portal.
- The four-digit PIN code that you were previously able to use is only valid for the Sky Store and Sky Go.
- Only recently there was a cyber attack on user accounts at Sky, which are now to be secured with strong passwords.
Sky abolishes the PIN – at least when logging into the customer portal. Probably also because this was only recently the target of cyber attacks and user profiles fell into the hands of hackers, from now on a strong password must be used to access personal data on sky.de.
The four-digit PIN code for logging into Sky Go on mobile devices and for digital purchases in the Sky Store via receiver and Sky Q is still valid. This does not actually change anything in everyday use of the Sky offer – only access to sensitive data in the Online portal should be better protected.
Sky Login: Password instead of PIN
A modern step, after all, strong passwords have long been mandatory when creating user profiles for almost all online offers. Whether with the e-mail provider or the website of the health insurance company: the use of upper and lower case letters, special characters and numbers is no longer optional anywhere. Sky is now following suit and also obliges its customers to strengthen their own data security.
After creating a new password for the customer account, it is no longer possible to return to the old PIN for online access, behind the digital security lock, in addition to youth protection settings, personal data such as private address, telephone number and contract details can also be viewed and paid bookings are possible.
Also interesting…
Of course, the optionally adjustable youth protection PIN, which does not have to match the PIN for logging in to Sky Go, is unaffected by the measures taken by Sky to improve data security.
