“More and more customers are choosing ‘internet TV services’ which do not require specialist installation, which has led us to change the number of sets we need to provide our services,” Sky said in a statement. a statement sent to AFP.
The approximately 1,000 job cuts represent nearly 4% of the group’s 26,000 employees in the United Kingdom. Sky Group, specialized in television production and broadcasting and present in six European countries, employs 32,000 people in total.
This news comes the day after the British television channel Channel 4 announced an 18% reduction in its workforce, or around 200 layoffs, and the relocation of its London headquarters, citing a “rapid slowdown in the economy British and the demand of the advertising market”.
