Sky is planning a true crime documentary about the right-wing extremist attack in Munich in 2016. Shooting should start in the summer.

A true crime documentary about the attack on July 22, 2016 in Munich is in the planning stage at the pay-TV channel Sky. In the rampage of the 18-year-old assassin in and around the Olympic shopping center, nine people were killed and five others were seriously injured. The shooting for the Sky Original “July 22nd – Die Schüsse von München” should start in summer 2021, as the broadcaster announced.

Experts from the police, forensics, medicine, extremism and psychology should have their say. Martin Bernstein (57), author and editor of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, provides information about the latest findings on the background of the crime together with eyewitnesses, experts and experts involved. Constantin Documentation is responsible for the production in cooperation with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

The director is Johannes Preuss (38), the producers are Jochen Köstler and Jan Klophaus. The four episodes, each 50 minutes in length, are to be available exclusively on Sky Crime. It is not yet known when the documentary will be shown.
