In the Swiss team, Wendy Holdener and Michelle Gisin were particularly responsible for the music. Both snapped onto the podium once this winter and became “Best-of-the-Rest”. Gisin managed this in Lienz; Holdener in Killington. Why this name? Well, whenever Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin started, they shared places 1 and 2. Should it turn out differently in Kranjska Gora? No! Wendy Holdener finished second behind Petra Vlhova in a splendid way. Third place went to Anna Swenn-Larsson. The Schwyzerin missed the podium only a gossamer. For a long time it even looked like a win. It would have been her first slalom victory in her 100th World Cup slalom. Amusing: She wasn’t even aware that it was a special day for the 28-year-old. She said to the SRF: “Cool, I didn’t even know that.” Mikaela Shiffrin failed in the second run, she threaded.

Things didn’t go well for Holdener’s Swiss team-mate Gisin either. The 28-year-old started the first run as the first driver, but her race was over after a few seconds. Already at the third gate pole she threaded and failed. Extremely bitter for Gisin, she had to watch the Holdener victory from the stands in the afternoon. Elena Stoffel and Nicole Good were also able to collect World Cup points.
The latter in particular was overjoyed. “In the first run it was a really cool feeling to finish and to see the 24th place. I actually dealt with the nervousness relatively well, but then I got off to a good start and was able to fully attack », said the 24-year-old. “I made a few mistakes on the steep slope, that slowed me down, but it’s still really cool to have my first World Cup points.” (nih)
