Slap from Will Smith: “It hurt like hell!” reacts Chris Rock

Four months after being slapped by Will Smith in the middle of the Oscars ceremony, Chris Rock brought up the subject during the tour of one of his shows.

On March 27, Will Smith violently slapped Chris Rock on the Oscars stage, creating an unprecedented controversy in the history of the ceremony.

As a reminder, Smith stood up to punch him in the face after the comedian made a bad joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. The actor, who received the best actor statuette for The Williams Method in stride, was banned from the Academy for 10 years following this unfortunate gesture.

A few days after the ceremony, Chris Rock reacted for the first time with the playfulness that characterizes him. During a show, he asked his fans how their weekend was.

“For my part, I’m still digesting”he chanted, referring to the Oscars. “At some point I’m gonna talk about all this shit, and I promise you it’ll be fun”he concluded in front of a white-hot audience.

After several months of hindsight, it seems that the time has come for the comedian to return to this incident that sparked the scandal in Hollywood.

During a recent show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, Chris Rock discussed the subjectnot without a hint of sarcasm.

“People who say words hurt have never had a slap in the face from Will Smith”he joked.

I am not a victim. But hell, it hurt like hell!

“I’m not a victim. But damn, it hurt like hell! Then I got that shit out of my head and went to work the next day. We don’t go to the hospital because ‘we cut ourselves with a sheet of paper’he added.

For the actor, the case of the slap now seems over. Indeed, the latter has never filed a complaint, preferring to keep a low profile and take advantage of his tours to launch some floodgates on this aggression suffered in front of millions of spectators around the world.
