Slatted frame for the bed: is it even necessary?

The comparison shows that there is hardly any real added value if the mattresses are on flexible instead of rigid frames. On the contrary, when lying on your back, they often worsen the supporting properties of the mattresses – and sometimes significantly.

In the side position there are hardly any changes in most combinations, only three teams can show some improvements compared to the mattress on a firm base.

Therefore, the experts advise: If you mainly sleep on your back and buy a good mattress, you should put it on a rigid slatted frame. Because at least the mattresses in the test were usually already constructed in such a way that they sensibly support sleepers even without grating.
