Sleep better: These pillows convince ÖKO-TEST

ÖKO-TEST examines pillows

In addition to a well-ventilated room and a comfortable mattress, a good pillow is particularly important for a restful sleep at night. The preferences for pillows are of course often different – some rely on very soft or hard pillows, the height of the pillow is also a question of personal taste. It is always important that the cervical spine is sufficiently relieved and a relaxed sleeping position is enabled.

In an October 2020 issue, ÖKO-TEST tested a total of 20 pillows, including products from suppliers such as Galeria Kaufhof, Dänisches Bettenlager, Real and Allnatura. The focus of the investigations was on testing for pollutants; but also the care, handling and the material were important factors for the overall grade.

It turned out that while many pillows can be unreservedly recommended by the testers, some products contain residues of toxic substances – there are also some striking differences in the washing process and the material used. Since you sleep on the pillow for several hours at night, the product should definitely be free of harmful substances.

You can read about which products are worth the money and which ones should be avoided in our detailed test report on the Öko-Test investigation. You can download the complete ÖKO-TEST test report with all tested pillows Buy as an ePaper item.
