Maddie McCann’s family hoped to finally have their questions answered, but they may be disappointed once again. This 3-year-old (soon to be 4) British girl disappeared while on vacation with her parents and her twin siblings. Ethe case was never solved.
After serious suspicions surrounding a Polish pedophile by the name of Christian Brueckner, the investigation had exonerated the 45-year-old man, bringing the investigations to a standstill. Until the assertions of a young German woman on February 16, claiming to be Maddie on Instagram and asking for a DNA test. The latter are in progress, but the relatives of Julia Wendell explained that she suffered from psychiatric disordersand probably wanted to attract attention that way.
At the time, the case caused a stir and the English and local media were fiercely opposed. Portuguese investigators had indeed quickly suspected Maddie’s parents of being responsible for her death, but some saw it as unjustified harassment.
Fifteen years later, several elements are still unresolved. On May 3, 2003, Maddie’s parents left their sleeping children in their room at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz and joined friends for dinner at 7 p.m. At 10 p.m., the mother of the family goes back to the room, which she finds empty.
The police thought that sedatives may have been given to the children but no vial was found and Maddie’s parents denied the accusation.

Gray areas still unresolved in the Maddie case
The father, Gerry, would have come up around 9 p.m., then a friend around 9:30 p.m. but he wouldn’t have looked over the bed from Maddie.
During the investigation, a police dog would have sniffed a smell of corpse on the clothes of the mother, who had specified working in contact with the dead, as part of her medical activity.
Another gray area, traces of blood had been found in the car rented by the couple.
The two doctors have been fighting for years to find their daughter and there have been many false leads in this disturbing affair, which will apparently not yet have an outcome with this twist.
