(Boursier.com) — Finally some good news, albeit relative, on the Inflation front in France. According to provisional data from INSEE, consumer prices should increase by 5.8% over one year in August, after +6.1% the previous month. The consensus was for stability at 6.1%. This decline is due to the slowdown in energy prices. The prices of services should progress over one year at the same rate as the previous month. Those of manufactured products and food (notably excluding fresh products) would accelerate, specifies INSEE. Over one month, consumer prices should increase by 0.4% after +0.3% in July.

Harmonized with European standards, annual inflation should come out at 6.5% after +6.8% in July and against a consensus of 6.7%. Over one month, the HICP should grow by 0.4%, after +0.3% the previous month.
