Slightly injured – woman and dog attacked by Steinbock!

A curious attack that fortunately ended unscathed! When two Hungarians (both 32) went on a hike in the Bärnschützklamm area with their dog on Saturday, an ibex apparently felt threatened by the barking four-legged friend and attacked it! Because one of the women had wrapped the leash around her waist, she fell down and was also attacked by the animal. She was slightly injured.

The two Hungarian vacationers were on their way together with their border collie from the Bärenschützklamm car park in Mixnitz towards the Kassahütte at around 2 p.m. The four-legged friend was properly kept on a leash, and the dog owner had also wrapped the leash around her waist and secured it with a carabiner. The imposing wild animal apparently felt threatened by the dog, even more so when it began to bark. The ibex then attacked the dog and took it on its horns! The keeper could not release the secured line and fell herself during the attack. The ibex then attacked the 32-year-old who was lying on the ground. She was slightly injured. Capricorn pursued them The women managed to flee down the valley, Capricorn pursued them, but stopped at a bridge. There, the tourists were able to call for help, and the Mixnitz mountain rescue team responded. The injured 32-year-old was cared for by the rescuers, both women were accompanied to the valley. The slightly injured person did not have to seek medical help. The dog and, as the later inspection showed, the ibex were not injured in the incident. The alpine police, the Mixnitz mountain rescue team with ten people and the volunteer fire brigades Mixnitz and Breitenau with four were deployed powers.
