(Boursier.com) — SMAIO (Software, Machines and Adaptive Implants in Orthopedics) announces the success of its 2nd American training and reflection program on sagittal balance which was held in San Diego (California) in mid-November 2023.

To follow up on the first 4 training programs entitled “Sagittal Alignment Academy” for its European (Copenhagen, Madrid and Brussels in October 2022 and April 2023) and North American (Dallas in November 2022) customers, SMAIO continues to intensify the dissemination of its holistic approach to spine surgery in the United States, the largest spinal surgery market in the world, through the holding of the first Sagittal Alignment Think Tank. Highlighting its expertise in restoring the vertebral alignment of patients, and having managed to convince a college of 8 of the most recognized ‘faculties’ both in the United States and in Europe, SMAIO has developed its ‘Sagittal Balance Academy’ in a ‘Think Tank’ format. Thus, 24 American surgeons, gathered during a day in San Diego, were able to analyze concrete cases requiring vertebral realignment with the Keops Balance Analyzer 3D software and participate in several workshops on realistic simulators using Kheiron osteosynthesis equipment. Spinal Fixation System, two flagship products in the SMAIO range.

The objective of SMAIO is to develop a consensus with North American surgeons on a method of spinal realignment specific to each patient, drawing on the extensive data from Smaio’s Keops database and on technologies using artificial intelligence which exploit it. The Think Tank’s practical workshops also gave them the opportunity to understand how the i-kontrol platform allows them to precisely plan and execute spinal realignment surgeries in their daily practice.

To date, 5 American surgeons are actively participating in the preliminary launch phase of i-kontrol in the United States which must end at the end of 2023 to give way to the “full release” phase which aims to triple the number of users of SMAIO solutions in the United States by 2025.
